Advantages of general anesthesia
General anesthesia is usually recommended for complicated implantations (with or without bone augmentation). Also, for very anxious patients or children, general anesthesia is often helpful.
For the majority of implantations, local anesthesia is usually sufficient. It is vital to achieve the absolute lack of pain at all times.
Advantages of local anesthesia
- low perioperative risk
- during surgery, active participation of the patient is possible
- less time-consuming and more cost-effective
